The Pakenham and Cranbourne lines were partially suspended for four hours on Saturday morning after a car and train collided at a level crossing earmarked for removal in Melbourne's east.

The smash occurred at the Chandler Road level crossing in Noble Park, a short distance from Yarraman Station, about 7.30am.
An Ambulance Victoria spokesman said the car's driver is uninjured and there were no reports of injuries from anyone on the train.
The Chandler Road level crossing is one of the nine level crossings the state government is set to remove between Caulfield and Dandenong.

Trains were suspended between Dandenong and Westwall stations from about 7.30am.
By about 11.30am the trains were back up and running.
Metro says commuters on the Pakenham and Cranbourne lines can expect minor delays while they work to restore Saturday's timetable.
