PERTH shooter Darryl Carnicelli was on target in Ballarat at the weekend.
Carnicelli won the open division of the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia action pistol national championship at Ballarat Pistol Club.
He had an aggregate score of 1918, two clear of Queenslander Brett Foster.
Richard Siebert, one of four Ballarat competitors, finished third in the Metallic Gun division. More than 40 shooters from across Australia and New Zealand contested the event.
Siebert said he was happy with his third place, but had hoped to do better in the open event.
“The top 15 competitors in the open were all pretty even, you couldn’t pick who was going to win,” he said.
Siebert placed second in the Bianchi Cup in Missouri, the world’s richest and most prestigious shooting event, in May. He recently returned from Germany where he represented Australia in the world championships.
The Australian team is selected from the national championships.
Sieber again earned selection and enabling his to contest the Bianchi Cup next year.
