Liam Dawson stars in under-17 Futsal World Cup

Ballarat futsal star Liam Dawson has returned from a successful under-17 Futsal World Cup campaign after delivering a man-of-the-match performance in the 6-1 grand final victory against the United States of America.

Dawson, 16, kicked two goals in the final and was one of the 14-man squad’s best players throughout the tournament. The Australian side travelled to Dundee in Scotland to take on USA, Pakistan and Scotland. Australia went through the group stage undefeated to advance straight into the grand final. Coach Corey Smith said Dawson was an immensely talented player.

“He’s not the most athletic player. But his understanding of the game and his skill-set is different to any player I’ve coached.” Smith said.
