Last night, the government claims processor beat fellow Zumbo’s Just Desserts contestant Brogan in a semi-final challenge that would be sure to bring a sweat to the brow of even the most expert cooks.
Ms Ferguson will now battle Canberra insurance broker Ali King for the top spot in next week’s grand final.
The battle for the top has not been easy. Last night, Ms Ferguson wowed judges with a gravity-defying donut tower. The challenge had been to create a dessert that was a minimum of 30cm high.
She then aced a challenge to recreate Adriano Zumbo’s own dessert, a mini V8 cake – a tiny cake no bigger than a matchbox.
Ms Ferguson, a 37-year-old mother of two, reached a final score of 32, dazzling the judges.
"You made them sing. They're beautiful. I'd probably eat the whole tower,” Zumbo said.
The Grand Final will be broadcast on Channel 7 on September 27 at 7.30pm. Ms Ferguson is in the running for a $100,000 prize and the chance to have one of her desserts in Zumbo’s stores.
