Since winning the Ballarat Beer Festival’s Battle of the Bands contest last year, the Ballarat Grammar student has played a number of high-profile gigs, including corporate functions at Etihad Stadium, and scored a spot at the Anglesea Music Festival.
She’s now one of 12 finalists, out of 450 entrants, in the Melbourne Music Bank song competition. The four entrants with the most votes will perform at Melbourne’s Arts Centre on October 25.
“I like performing because you get to share part of yourself with people, and it’s almost like you get to develop a friendship with everyone who’s listening,” Wright said.
Wright will perform this Friday in Melbourne for the Music Bank contest before gigs at Karova Lounge, the SongWays festival and the City of Ballarat Youth Awards through October.
