MARYANNE Taranto was just 13 years old when her mum died of leukaemia.
At the age of 31, Jess Taranto died after just a one-month battle with the disease.
Now Maryanne, 23, is doing her bit to raise money to help fight leukaemia.
She still drives the 1967 Chevrolet Impala her mother handed down to her and has a passion for classic cars.
The annual Ballarat Vintage and Classic Car Club is holding its annual Lunch for Leukaemia on Friday, and Ms Taranto is encouraging as many people as possible to come along.
In its eighth year, the event attracts about 100 people and aims to raise thousands of dollars each year.
"We're hoping we can get as many people along as possible or even just to donate," Ms Taranto said.
