A distraught woman has spoken of the moment she managed to grab a pair of scissors from her attacker in a terrifying carjacking in Melbourne's south-east.

Anna, 49, told radio station 3AW that she was in her car at Landcox Park, Brighton East when she was approached by a man.
"Before I could think, he opened the door really forcefully, he had a pair of scissors at my head, and said very loudly 'get out of the car'," she said.
"He pulled me physically out of the car and I must have instinctively tried to protect my head, and I grabbed the scissors from him."
The man then jumped in Anna's car and tried to slam the door shut.
"We had this tug of war. I started screaming for help. Eventually he just closed the door on me and drove off," she said.
Still shaking from the frightening experience, Anna later told reporters she could not believe she escaped with her life.
"I was very scared ... I had to do something. I did what I had to do to save my life. I can't believe I'm alive," she said.
Anna ran to a nearby cafe, where customers helped her call police. She was not injured, but her phone and tablet were in the car at the time of the carjacking.
Anna said she was recovering from the ordeal, but felt violated and upset.
Police said the man walked past the victim's silver 2007 Toyota Camry sedan about 1.35pm on Wednesday, before doubling back and opening the door, demanding that she get out.
The carjacker drove off towards Milroy Street and Nepean Highway.
The offender is described as being of African in appearance and about 185 centimetres tall. He was wearing tracksuit pants, a blue top with a black print, light coloured runners and a cap.
The registration of Anna's car is UYZ 360.
