The family of a missing Blackwood man whose body was found next to his car in the Lerderderg Gorge State Park say an inadequate police search contributed to his death.

The body of Matthew Williams, 37, was found in forest near Blackwood six days after he left home to go gold prospecting in nearby bush.
"The police made their mistakes, I think they know they made mistakes," his brother Andrew told the Victorian Coroners Court on Thursday.
Mr Williams left his Blackwood home and told family he was going gold prospecting in Lerderderg State Forest on Sunday, December 21 2014.
The body was located by a local man around 7.35pm on Saturday a week later in forest near Blackwood.
Emergency services, family and volunteers conducted search of the surrounding Blackwood area in the Lerderderg State Forest in the days after Mr Williams was reported missing.
