Aiden Domic was named among 70 players selected across the nation to play in the clash that will be a curtain-raiser to the AFL grand final while Jordan Johnston was named as an emergency. The match features some of the best under-17 talent in the country and offers a great opportunity to showcase their ability on the hallowed turf on football's biggest day of the year.
Nakia Cockatoo is a prime example of what a strong performance on such a stage can do. His best-on-ground performance in the Allies vs All-Star grand final curtain-raiser in 2014 saw him rocket up the draft order to be selected with pick 10 in the National Draft.
Domic played 11 games for the Rebels in 2016 - including both finals - in a solid first season in the Rebels system.
While Johnston was a regular fixture in the Rebels forward line - playing 15 matches. He kicked 26 goals for the season including a standout performance against the Sandringham Dragons where he booted seven goals. The two teams will be named after AFL champions Chris Judd and Michael O’Loughlin. Collingwood assistant coach Brenton Sanderson will coach the Chris Judd team while Swans legend Tadhg Kennelly will coach the O’Loughlin side.
The match begins at 10am.
