Liam Scott from The Perfect Drop in Daylesford broke his right hand while snowboarding a few weeks ago, then went on to win the live lamb, beef and veal apprentice challenge.
“The team was pretty impressed,” the 20-year-old said. “I’ve never done any competitions before so it was scary going into this big kitchen.”
Mr Scott delighted judges with a cedar wrapped lamb loin and flower herb salad.
“You’re judged on how well you’ve worked as a whole so your work flow, preparation, cleanliness, presentation and the taste of your dish.”
The Perfect Drop also achieved bronze in the Battle of the Pacific team challenge.
