Nicholson, a former president and current player at Ballan Bowling Club and one of the men behind the creation of the popular Ballarat District Bowls Division Super Dome Series, is the sole new member elected to the board, which was confirmed on Tuesday.
He polled a total of 230 votes to join Rutherglen’s John Fisher (continuing) in filling the available men’s positions.
Nicholson’s place on the board becomes official after the 2016 Bowls Victoria annual general meeting on October 24.
He will join fellow BDBD member Valerie Savage, from Webbcona, who was re-elected unopposed to one of the women’s board director roles.
According to the Bowls Victoria statement, votes were received from 320 clubs, which is a 61 per cent response from those eligible.
The votes from nine of these clubs were deemed to be informal.
