In a Facebook post, council has urged locals to be wary of doorknockers alleging to be former City of Ballarat employees.
“There are reports doorknockers are identifying themselves as former City of #Ballarat employees and demanding vulnerable householders pay cash to remove dangerous trees from their properties,” the post read.
“The doorknockers are telling householders if their tree isn’t removed immediately it will fall down and in turn cause more damage and prompt the City of Ballarat to remove it at a higher cost.”
