NEWLY relocated gun young jockey Tim Bell will have his first rides in Ballarat today as he strives to open his Victorian winning account.
Bell moved from Queensland at the start of this month to further his career in Melbourne.
He has had only limited opportunities in Victoria so far with three seconds his best finished so far.
He has three mounts at Dowling Forest: first-starters Nice Wheels for Adele Garraway in the Rokk 66 Maiden for three-year-old fillies, 1000m; Affetto for Greg Eurell in the City of Ballarat0-68 Handicap, 1600m; and Retsina for Anthony Freedman in the Porter Plant BM72 Handicap for fillies and mares, 1100m.
Bell, 19, has had two outstanding years in south-east Queensland.
He rode more than 100 winners in little more than 12 months, which included a stint with the powerful Patinack Farm stable.
These included three successes at group level.
In all he has ridden more than 300 winners in a career spanning four years, being the Queensland apprentice of the year in 2011-12.
FLEMINGTON trainer Michael Moroney saddles up two Victoria Oaks hopes in the Polly Shoes Maiden for fillies and mares, 1600m.
Sauv Blanc Babe and Sunset Magic were among 21 first acceptors taken for the group $1m Victoria Oaks, 2500m, on Tuesday.
Each has had just the two starts and will need to do something special this afternoon to signal they are ready to line up in the three-year-old fillies’ classic.
REBECCA Gribble returns home with the in-form Chantoozie.
Having moved from her Dowling Forest base to Cranbourne this year to work with leading trainer Robbie Griffiths, Gribble has found the key to Chantoozie.
Raced by her parents Bill and Ann, the mare has had two wins and a second from three starts this preparation.
Chantoozie won first-up on the Geelong synthetic, followed up with a second at Wangaratta and then scored at Bairnsdale.
She faces the starter in the Porter Plant BM72 Handicap for fillies and mares, 1100m.
PAROUSIA is one of the best connected first-starters,
Luke Oliver has the three-year-old in the the Rokk 66 Maiden for three-year-old fillies, 1000m.
By Presence, she is out of Look For Venue, which makes her a half-sister group 3 and listed winner Orbit Express and three other winners.
