An underworld figure with a bullet still lodged in his neck from a shooting last week has fronted court charged over a brawl in a South Melbourne brothel and several offences related to his shooting.

On Wednesday, Nabil Maghnie was arrested by detectives from the Echo anti-bikie taskforce and heavily-armed police at a house in Epping.
The raid came less than a week after he was shot twice through the windscreen of his car but managed to drive himself to hospital.
Mr Maghnie still had bandages taped over the bullet wound on the right side of his face when he appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Thursday.
Fairfax Media understands the bullet that struck his face is still lodged in his neck and cannot be removed because of its proximity to an artery.
Mr Maghnie has been charged with assault, affray and property damage over an incident at the Gotham City brothel on August 13, where the 40-year-old and unnamed others allegedly bashed a man and damaged a $200 table.
In the wake of his shooting on September 22, Mr Maghnie has also been charged with possessing a firearm as a prohibited person, possessing the proceeds of crime ($23,050 in cash), committing an an indictable offence while on bail, and possession of a drug of dependence (growth hormones).
His lawyer, Michael Tovey QC, told the court his client needed immediate medical attention for the bullet wounds to his face and chest.
Mr Tovey said Mr Maghnie, who was in a car when he was shot in the face and chest in the early hours of last Thursday, was discharged from hospital on Monday.
"He has very significant ongoing issues in respect to pain and infection," he said.
The court heard he was unable to assist police with their enquiries into his shooting.
Mr Maghnie, who was supported in court by his family, made no application for bail.
Magistrate Luisa Bazzani remanded him in custody ahead of an application for bail set for next Wednesday.
