Ballarat – the next mini Picasso may be among us, the only way to find out is by perusing the more than 300 Young Archie finalists and casting a vote for your favourite picture.
As Ballarat’s artistic community gears up for another Archibald Prize exhibition – students from across the region have put pencil to paper and drawn beautiful pictures of those who inspire them.
Sarah Howard, 11, drew a picture of Rhianna, her favourite singer.
“She had a hard childhood, but she has turned it around and become really successful,” Sarah said.
“My favourite song is ‘Work’.”
Ballarat Art Gallery’s Peter Freund said the portraits would be displayed in iconic locations throughout Ballarat. The winners of each category will be presented on October 26 at the gallery.
Mr Freund marveled at the diversity of the portraits.
“Some have drawn film personalities, singers or even their parents or friends,” Mr Freund said.
Voting closes on Friday, October 7 at 12pm.
