NBL: Sydney Kings call up Joyce

DAN Joyce will become the fourth player from the Ballarat Miners’ 2012 roster to suit up for a National Basketball League team this season.

Joyce has been given a one-week contract by the Sydney Kings to fill in for captain James Harvey, who has a suspected broken arm.

The Kings play Cairns Taipans, in a game which will see Joyce face fellow Miners guard Shaun Bruce, and Townsville Crocodiles in a tough Queensland road trip.

Kevin White is also playing with Sydney and Tom Coenraad is with the Wollongong Hawks.

The Kings are Joyce’s third NBL club.

Joyce joined Ballarat in 2010 after stints with Wollongong and the now-

defunct Gold Coast Blaze.

Joyce has been training with the Kings since the end of the South East Australian Basketball League season. There is a possibility Joyce will have the contract extended.

Joyce has played 94 NBL games, averaging 5.8 points, 2.1 assists and 1.4 rebounds.
