The Bombers’ playing leader will serve in the role on his own in 2017 after sharing it with fellow joint-coach Jake Bridges for the past two seasons.
After taking the team, alongside Morgan, to last month’s Central Highlands Football League grand final – which it lost to Springbank - Bridges then signed as East Point’s head coach for next year.
Morgan, now 31, expects to keep the Buninyong playing group together that was part of the heart-breaking loss to the Tigers.
“We want to be better than we were this year and that means hopefully winning one,” Morgan said.
Morgan replaced Joe Gilbert as Buninyong’s senior coach for the 2014 campaign and has taken the Bombers to three-straight finals series, including the 2016 decider.
Learmonth and Carngham-Linton are both expected to finalise their senior coaching appointments by the end of this week.
The Lakies are in talks with candidates and are hoping to secure a replacement for Brenton Powell, who stepped down at the end of the most recent season.
Also in conversations are the Saints, which are hoping these can lead to the appointment of Aaron Braeckmans’ successor.
Like Powell, Braeckmans vacated the helm following the completion of season 2016.
The Lakies finished last year in 11th position, while the Saints collected the wooden spoon.
Newlyn, Rokewood-Corindhap and Clunes are other CHFL clubs yet to announce leaders for next year.
The Cats are still chasing a replacement for Kal Young, the Grasshoppers are looking to fill the void left by Mick Hynes, while the Magpies haven’t publicly detailed their plans. Ryan Hudson-Morgan served as interim coach for most of 2016 after the club parted ways with Dale Cowell early in the campaign.
