He makes the move after seven seasons with Werribee, where he was joint vice-captain this year.

Sherlock, 26, adopted Bacchus Marsh as his home club earlier this year, but did not get an opportunity to line up with the Cobras.

Bacchus Marsh is a perfect fit for the Werribee 100-game player as he lives in the same neighbourhood as the Cobras’ home ground, Maddingley Park.

Sherlock told The Courier the move was as much about lifestyle as football.

With Sherlock and his wife are expecting their first child later in the year, he said playing in Bacchus Marsh would give him more family time. He will also have more time to devote to his work with a family business.

Cobras coach Travis Hodgson said Sherlock would be a great asset, as a player and leader.

He said the rebounding defender and midfielder not only had enormous experience, but also arrived in the prime of playing career.

Sherlock played his junior football with Werribee Districts in the Western Regional Football League and spent three seasons with Western Jets in the TAC Cup under-18 competition.

He first moved to Bacchus Marsh with his family while at secondary school.
