BALLARAT schools collected seven gold medals at the School Sports Victoria track and field state secondary championships.
Ballarat High School claimed six and Mt Clear College one.
Phoenix Community P-12 College and Ballarat Secondary College was also among medallists at the meet at Lakeside Stadium, Albert Park.
More than 70 students from around the region competed in the state event.
Ballarat High School, with approximately 50 competitors, finished fourth in the schools' overall points tally. The popular Ballarat school placed third last year and the year before, and was runner-up in 2009.
Thomas Scott from Mount Clear College won the boys' 12-13 years high jump with an impressive jump of 1.65 metres.
Ballarat High School students also did well in the high jump, with Rochelle Lundall winning the girls'18-20 section jumping 1.50 metres and Lydia Brooks taking the gold for girls' 17-year-olds with a result of 1.55 metres.
High School's Jack Davies also received a gold medal, completing the boys' open 3000 metres in less than nine minutes.
Joshua Attwood, Ballarat High School, won the boys' 17-year-olds 400 metres in 51.07 seconds and Naatalya Hall-Dekleva took gold in the girls' 12-13 years 800 metres finishing 2:23.80.
The Phoenix P12 Community College boys 4x100 relay team came in third, unable to defend their gold that they won last year.
Students qualified after placing first, or in the top two for long distance events, in the Grampians Region in the school sports day at Llanberis Reserve on May 4.
