Police are on the hunt for a man who rammed a Holden Commodore into a police car on the Calder Freeway in Faraday, north-west of Melbourne, before he stole another car from a rural property.

A chase had started on Saturday morning about 8am after police saw the car being driven erratically.
The man then crashed into the police car, damaging both the vehicles. However, no one was injured and the man took off.
The man then drove into a property in Jennings Hill Road, Sutton Grange, near Elphinstone.
Victoria Police spokesman Adam West said it is believed the man entered the home and demanded car keys from the occupants, stealing a black BMW and driving off.
"The purple Commodore was recovered at the home in Jennings Hill Road," Leading Senior Constable West said.
Police are continuing to search for the man and anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
