Tamara Kuldin is returning with a new show, Swing into Spring.
One of Melbourne's most in demand jazz vocalists will sing material from the likes of Doris Day, Peggy Lee, Sarah Vaughan and Nat King Cole. She will be accompanied by Steve Paix on the baby grand.
Friday, Josh Dance @ Blue Bean Cafe, Hepburn
Dance, from down the road in Geelong, plays electric guitar with a drummer, Black Keys-style, serving up mostly originals with some covers thrown in. He has recorded a couple of CDs of blues rock and roll.
Saturday, Comedy 4 Karma @ Daylesford Town Hall
The annual fundraiser for Daylesford Dharma School features an impressive bill of comedians including Tom Ballard, Luke McGregor and Cal Wilson.
All are generously donating their time for free for this cause. Ballard will take to the Daylesford stage for the first time to provide laughs with his special brand of stand-up comedy. Not a stranger to our screens (Good News Week, Spicks ’n’ Specks, The Project etc), he also co-hosted Triple J’s breakfast for many years.
Like many comedians, McGregor got his start via Raw Comedy, became a comedy writer on countless programs and then found spots on TV working his way up to his most well-known role as Hugh in ABC TV’s Utopia. The ever-delightful Wilson, one of our most-loved comedians and also no stranger to our TV screens, will MC.
Providing some pre-event warm up tunes will be local act Arkie T. Williams and The Mudlarks.
Sunday, One Part Gin @ Horvat’s Supper Club, 1-4pm
One Part Gin is an original band that is loosely based in Ballarat.
Their sound is billed as “a dash of country, a sprinkle of folk and a rusty spoonful of something from the back of your grandaddy's shed”.
Sunday, This Way North and guests @ Old Hepburn Hotel, 4pm
This Way North features Leisha Jungalwalla (Jungal) and Cat Leahy.
Cat brings solid groove-based, left-of-centre, often at the forefront drumming, while Leisha plays some wonderful swampy slide guitar and tasty electric guitar work and soulful vocals.
