“My partner’s father died of leukaemia two years ago so that is one reason why I’ve gotten behind it,” he said. “But it’s also a good cause – so many people are affected by leukaemia.”
Seymour’s on Lydiard has already raised $1000 through trivia nights, donating a dollar from drink specials and games such as bet the bartender.
Mr Haintz is looking to double this figure and beat last year’s total of $1600.
Every $80 raised provides one night’s accommodation for people with leukaemia from regional areas who need treatments only available in metropolitan facilities.
The campaign will run until Monday, November 14.
“Get behind us because the foundation is making a lot of progress so it is worth doing,” he said. “(The campaign) is good for us, it’s good for them (the patrons) and it’s good for the Leukaemia Foundation.”
Other Ballarat bartenders participating in the campaign include Samantha Brown from The Western Hotel, Rhys Sizeland from Red Lion Hotel, Chris Sargent from Freight Bar, Neil Condron from Robin Hood Hotel, Bill Inness from The City Oval Hotel and Jamie Morcombe from The Bunch of Grapes Hotel.
