The Ballarat outfit consisting of Corey Fothergill, Brad Fothergill, Andrew Dalgeish, Mark Fothergill edged out Creswick 5-4, 4-3 in straight sets.
Ballarat finished third in the Metropolitan division and produced some outstanding bowls throughout the finals series.
It defeated second-placed Ballarat East Blue in third-set tie-break to advance to the semi-final stage where it accounted for minor premier Victoria to set up an Eastern conference final with Buninyong.
Ballarat got off to a flying start to take out the first set 7-1 before Buninyong responded to level the match taking out the second set 5-4.
However, Ballarat pulled through, as it had done regularly in the lead-up to the final, to claim the deciding tie-break set 1-0.
Creswick’s road to the final was more convincing but mattered little on the big stage.
It finished atop of the Goldfields division – dropping just one game. It defeated wildcard Smeaton Maroon before moving into the final courtesy of a straight sets victory over Linton and District. Creswick edged out Beaufort Golf in a third set tie-break to win the Western conference. It won the opening set before dropping the second 8-1, but it returned to form in the final set tie-break to overcome Beaufort Golf 1-0 to advance to the championship final.
