A man has been taken to the hospital after being bitten by a tiger snake in Research, north-east of Melbourne.

Ambulance Victoria spokesman John Mullen said the man was bitten on his leg.
"We were called to Joslyn Road at 4.31pm," Mr Mullen said.
"A man in his 40s was bitten on his ankle. It is believed to be a tiger snake.
"The man was taken to the Austin Hospital in a serious but stable condition."
