The Wanderers advanced through the group stage to the final undefeated before accounting for Bendigo in the grand final by 35 points - 9.9 (63) to 4.4 (28).
Coach Peter Lovett said the carnival was a great experience, particularly for its young players who rubbed shoulders with former AFL player Brett Goodes.
“We had a lot of young lads in the team this year - 14 years to 47 – a great range of players,” Lovett said.
“The fact that we had Brett Goodes playing in the side really inspired a lot of the younger players.
“Just his presence on the field really helped the nerves and his leadership on the ground. It was really great to get an opportunity to play with an ex-AFL star.”
Former Western Bulldogs player Brett Goodes showed his class on the big stage, being named the best player on the ground in the grand final. While Ballarat forward Aiden Kickett booted 16 goals to lead the division.
Ballarat also tasted success on the netball court.
Ballarat-based Gina's Dream Team triumphed 28-14 against Shepparton’s Rumbalara team in the division one netball grand final. While Gina's Dream Team claimed the division three title in a close encounter, defeating fellow Ballarat-based outfit Team Beyond Blue 24-21.
