This has the Ballarat golfer five strokes off the lead, held by Adam Crawford.
Nolan is inside the top 40 after a round featuring three birdies.
He was two under before shooting bogeys on the 15th and 16th.
Nolan is coming off a top 50 finish in the WA PGA Championship.
