During the week the region was expecting 5-10mm of rain but that number has now doubled to an expected rain fall of 10-20mm at a 90% chance.
In what is another frustrating outcome for the BCA as any play on the weekend looks unlikely, which would see cricket called off for a third week in a row. On Wednesday the BCA revealed it had already ruled out 19 of its 43 venues and with the impending rain it again puts the start of the season under threat. Also not helping the cause is Saturday’s forecast of just 11 degrees, which puts to rest any hope of the grounds drying out on the day.
“It’s another very frustrating week for us,” BCA’s operations officer Greg Wakeling said.
“We’re getting closer and closer each week but it’s not looking good.”
BCA expected to have a final decision made by 4pm, Friday.
