A lift well at the western end of the future home of AFL home and away games for reigning premier the Western Bulldogs stands tall above where construction has begun on the first section of tiered seating at the Ballarat facility.

When completed next year, the grandstand will be complemented by new and upgraded undercover seating around the northern side of the already reconfigured ground – providing seating for 5000 people.

The ground will have an overall capacity of more than 11,000.

The  Bulldogs hope to play either Adelaide or Greater Western Sydney in their first game for premiership points at Eureka Stadium, expected to be late next season.

The Bulldogs have a five-year agreement with the City of Ballarat, state government and AFL to play in Ballarat, with one game next year and two in future seasons.

The AFL is scheduled to release next year’s home and away fixture before the end of this month.
