“The paddling pools are a wonderful invention that can help any dog but more so our oldies,” she said. “Over summer it gives the dogs mental stimulation, but also helps them stay hydrated and cool as they’re playing in water and lapping it up as well.”
Ms Wicks said not everyone was able to foster, but paddling pools were an inexpensive and easy way to help.
She hopes to have 20 paddling pools so she can give one to each foster carer in the Ballarat district, which she said “would be a dream”.
Most of the dogs are ageing and come from pounds or are privately surrendered.
“It’s great if people can open their hearts and try and help these golden oldies in the last few months or years of their life,” she said. “They’re so easy to please – it doesn’t take much.”
Paddling pools or any other donations such as food can be dropped off at 16 Mitchell Road, Ross Creek.
Alternatively you can contact Ashley – who will be taking calls for Tracy – on 0402 644 467.
