Findlay is also vying for the Badminton Victoria Yonex Elite Series men’s doubles championship.
He shares the lead in the aggregate with Hung Pham after three of the five tournaments in the series, with the Victorian Open to follow the Ballarat event.
Findlay will combine with fellow Ballarat player Jeff Tho, who is fifth in the aggregate, in the doubles at Ken Kay Stadium.
The two-day Ballarat event, which continues on Sunday, this year features a para component for the first time as players begin building towards badminton making its paralympic debut in Tokyo in 2020.
Play begins at 9am on both days of the tournament, with singles, double and mixed doubles.
Open, B grade and para categories are on Saturday, and A grade and C grade on Sunday
