BROWN Hill ignited its Ballarat Cricket Association firsts season with an emphatic 149-run first innings win over Mt Clear at the Western Oval yesterday.
The Bulls dismissed Mt Clear for 92 as Matt McMahon took the first of two six-wicket hauls for the day.
Having made 7-241 on day one, Brown Hill enforced the follow-on and looked on the way to outright points until Simon Feros, 52no and Steve Nicholson 28no stopped the rot.
Mt Clear finished on 6-125 in its second innings.
McMahon captured 6-37 and then 6-22.
Golden Point fell over the line by one wicket with one ball to spare against Coronet City.
Chasing 190, Golden Point middle and lower order stumbled after a strong start
City skipper Phil Calvert three late wickets to almost steal what had midway through the day look unlikely.
