The Athlete’s Foot has donated 100 pairs of new shoes for the 3BA Christmas Appeal, a gesture worth at least $10,000.
Appeal director Peter Caligari said this donation would make a massive difference in the lives of struggling Ballarat families.
“In recent weeks we have discovered children going off to school with their only footwear being a pair of thongs and no socks,” Mr Caligari said.
“We can only imagine how these youngsters have suffered through one of Ballarat’s coldest and wettest winters.”
This is the second consecutive year The Athlete’s Foot has made the gesture with franchise owners Paul and Andrea Tudorovic pledge to make it an annual gift.
“We want to make a difference to the communities in which we operate,” Mr Tudorovic said.
Shoes will be distributed via the appeal’s major welfare partners UnitingCare, Salvation Army, Anglicare and St Vincent de Paul Society.
