It is pleasing to note that following the stopping of the wholesale destruction of Australian fishing stocks by a blacklisted overseas super trawler, the MV Margiris, many of our supermarkets are now stocking a product, Safcol tinned tuna and salmon, sustainably fished by a South Australian company in Australian waters.
By buying products such as these, we are not only supporting an environmentally friendly Australian industry, we are also making Australia a less appealing target for those that would plunder our fishing resources and leave our local fishermen struggling to survive.
