They’ve created and packaged 40 Christmas cakes for Uniting Care to distribute to those in need throughout the festive season as part of a VCAL project.
Loreto College VCAL coordinator Sam Anderson said it was a project the students particularly enjoyed.
“The whole process is a really valuable workplace experience for our VCAL students, helping to develop their skills in leadership, organisation and working as a team, which builds their overall confidence,” she said.
“Being involved in this project also gives our students a real sense of personal achievement – that they are producing something that a lot of people will hopefully gain a sense of wellbeing from, and in a small way giving something back to our community.”
And the project doesn’t just include the students.
Staff were invited to sponsor a gift for $10 each to cover the costs required to make and package the cakes.
“The package even includes a knife and fork and wrapping foil to save the cake because the girls thought those whom the cakes are distributed to, may not have these essential items.”
