Anthony Beare and Brad McClure are again expected to lock horns at the front of the pack in the charge for the “King of the Mount” at Redline Raceway on Saturday night.
Holden driver Beare from Mt Gambier is the reigning titleholder in the street stocks feature, which has attracted 60 entries.
Another Mt Gambier driver Mark Jennings is also a potential contender, being fresh from success at Hamilton’s Western Speedway in his New South Wales-registered Falcon.
McClure (Holden) is the NSW champion and always a threat.
Lenny Bates (Ford), Ballarat’s Darren Giacometti (Holden) might also be the fore with Brooke Ferguson (Holden), Shaun Henry (Ford), Jason Degoldi (Ford), Darryl Atkinson (Ford), and Scott and Mark Purdie, and Michael Clark – all among a long list of Ballarat and Geelong-based racers eager to keep the crown in the region.
Standard saloons, open VSC sedans and V8 thunder sedans are also on the program. Sean Lister is looking to go back-to-back in the open sedans, having won the opening show of the season.
His biggest opposition might be Darren Nelson, who is coming off a win at Heartland Raceway at Moama a week ago.
Tim Hutchinson, Hayden Clifford, Allan Sinclair and Ian Walsh are ones to watch in the standard saloons.
Last-start V8 thunder sedan winner Steve Hodder returns to take on the likes of Kieran Brennan junior and Wallace Hucker.
Hodder is an early favourite going into the night, when he could claim back-to-back with feature wins.
