TIME trials will open the Cycling Australia National Road Championships in Ballarat in January.
Having the time trials as the first event of the five-day titles is a major change to scheduling.
Time trials have in the past been contest on the last day.
Cycling Australia today announced programming for the championships from Wednesday, January 9, to Sunday, January 13.
While specifics of the time trial, criterium and road race courses will not be announced until November 14, Cycling Australia did confirm that the criteriums will again be twilight events in Sturt Street.
Road races will again be based in and around Buninyong to conclude the championships.
The time trials have been ridden in the Learmonth area for the past few years, but next year’s venue is yet to be confirmed.
The first day is being billed as the “Family Day” of the event, while the Amy Gillett Foundation will have its annual “Amy’s Ride” at Buninyong on Sunday, January 13.
This is the first time “Amy’s Ride” has been run in conjunction with the national road titles, having been relocated from Geelong
