The champion chaser used his staying prowess to land his heat by more than three lengths.
Zambora Brockie led, but looked in trouble when headed rounding the turn before rallying in the home straight.
His Myrniong trainer Anthony Azzopardi admitted to being a little worried when Zambora Brockie gave up the lead, but could not have been happier with the outcome on Friday night.
Looking to the final, Azzopardi said “we’ll see what happens”.
Zambora Brockie remains unbeaten in three starts at Morshead Park, and now boasts the outstanding career record of 29 wins in 47 starts for $436,000 in earnings.
He is now not only in the running to earn first prizemoney of $77,000, but also pick up a $50,000 bonus offered by Greyhound Racing Victoria to any winner of three country cups in a year.
While Zambora Brockie ran a respectable 25.12 seconds for the 450m, fastest time honours went to Black Mumbo in the six of eight heats as each heat winner qualified for the final.
Black Mumbo provided the upset of the night by catching short-priced favourite Aston Bolero right on the line and denying him an opportunity to run for the country cups bonus.
American Monster also produced an eye-catching performance – railing to run down tearaway leader Aussie Infrared in the third heat.
