Berry will also join fellow teammate Cedric Cox at the Lions.
The hard-nosed midfielder will be a great asset to the Lions with not only his football ability but his leadership.
Both boys attended the national draft at Sydney and North Ballarat Rebels talent manager Phil Partington said it was a great moment watching the two close mates embrace as the Brisbane Lions revealed it would be selecting Berry.
Berry, who hails from Horsham, and McCluggage both moved down to Ballarat in the same year and have boarded at Ballarat Clarendon College together as well as playing under-16s together.
“To see the emotion between those two boys when they embraced was pretty special,” Partington said.
"That's great for all three of the boys.”
