Grand Noise Consortium really, really love video game music. They also really, really love jazz.
Right here in town is where they concoct their “unholy brew of great video game themes and groovy jazz stylings”.
On trumpet, piano and drums, they push these great tunes into uncharted waters and invite you along on their grand quest.
Friday, Cherry Flambe@ The Grande
Cherry Flambé will perform some of her favourite songs with Dick Preston and The Suits, with material ranging from torch songs to rockabilly.
She will be accompanied by Jeremy Meaden blowing his trumpet, Charley Phypers laying down some drums, Dave Patterson playing double bass and Dick Preston on guitar. There will also be some surprise guests.
Friday, Scott Fraser @ Blue Bean Cafe, Hepburn
Something of a guitar-playing journeyman, Scott Fraser has played all sorts of gigs – including for the Hells Angels in a small pub in the middle of Victoria and for the Heart Kids charity at Lindsey Fox's car museum in Melbourne.
His CD Tired Town features originals with Damian Howard, Brendan O'Neill and Fred Sass.
Sunday, Nigel McLean @ Horvat’s Supper Club
French manouche jazz meets Spanish flamenco.
"All terrain" jazz violinist Nigel MacLean and flamenco guitarist Andrew McMurray make an exciting and polished duo.
They will be performing tunes from Django Reinhardt to Paco du Lucia, plus some original instrumentals.
Saturday, JazzDeuce @ Perfect Drop
Enjoy the smooth jazz tunes of this Bendigo duo, featuring Norm Gray on trumpet.
Saturday, Brett Franke and Temple of Tunes @ Farmers Arms, Creswick
