THE AVOCA’S country hospitality has earned a statewide Golden Plate award as best overall venue.

This golden honour had The Avoca edging out decorated regional dining finalists Vue Grand Hotel in Queenscliff, Woodhouse in Bendigo and Mercato in Daylesford.

The Avoca also won a state award in hotel dining and special recognition of local wines, beer and ciders. The Avoca’s Rebecca Murphy was a state finalist for best chef.

Golden Plate Awards recognise and promote hospitality in three regions: Ballarat, Daylesford and the Pyrenees; Geelong, the Surf Coast and Otways; and, Bendigo and central Victoria.

Judges praised The Avoca’s passion and warm welcome.

“It was immediately clear that everyone at the Avoca put their hearts and souls into providing the very best the region has to offer.”
