Jans clocked one hour, 15 minutes, 40.5 seconds in outclassing his rivals – finishing 7:55.4 clear of his nearest rival in a field of 56.
The Damascus College student and Ballarat Sebastopol Cycling Club member is part of a FedUni WestVic Academy of Sport MTB junior development squad program preparing for next year’s national series and a state series event next month.
Internationally experienced Rohin Adams took out the 50km event, which attracted 51 cyclists.
He covered the distance in 2:17:47.5 in what developed into a race in two. He finished 52.3 seconds ahead Dave Nairn, with another four minutes back to the chasing pack.
