SANTA had already dropped off a whole room full of presents ahead of his arrival at Burrumbeet on Sunday afternoon. Mr Claus had a big job ahead, with about 1600 people to meet and greet for Ballarat Health Services’ family Christmas carnival.

BHS’ social team had four barbecues fired up to cook 1400 sausages, 800 hamburgers and 45 kilograms of onions in four hours. Catering also featured 800 hot dogs, 800 rolls and a towering pallet of water.
Preparations started last Christmas to cater for all ages in fun activities like a petting zoo, pony rides, motorbike tours, face painting and carnival stalls were all on offer. Show ride favourites like the Cha Cha and Rock Star swung into action – all free.
Six-year-old Makayla Lendrec-Doggett said the fairy floss, petting zoo and ponies were pretty cool. But the huge, inflatable shark slide was definitely worth trying.
