Wilson and Carroll met onstage and were married about two years later.
They share a deep love and respect for each other's music and delight in the rare occasions their busy lives allow them to perform together. I’m getting together a Christmas request list.
Harmonica maestro Wilson will also bring his left-handed acoustic guitar to perform a generous two to three set afternoon with covers and original material. Pithy and cynical political and observational comments are an optional extra.
Carroll is a singer-songwriter known for her work with GIT, The Junes, The Cartridge Family and The Pirates Of Beer. She specialises in country, but loves the bossa nova and has rhythm and blues in her heart.
They will be supported by Fenn Wilson, whose voice has been likened to Tony Joe White, Tex Perkins and one of his heroes, Johnny Cash.
Friday, Dolly Diamond @ The Grande
The Grande’s cabaret program will end with a bang with Dolly Diamond's Grande Christmas Party. Combining her comedic and vocal talent, it promises to be a sparkly, magical affair. Diamond was recently appointed artistic director of the Melbourne Cabaret Festival.
Saturday, Suzanne Hobson and Friends @ Blue Bean Cafe, Hepburn
Saturday, Norm Gray Jazztet @ Horvat’s Supper Club
Performing music by the great American Jazz composers from the 1930s to the 1960s.
The sound is smooth, swinging and sophisticated.
For this gig, they will be joined by the fantastic Myles White on guitar, with Norm Gray on flugelhorn, trumpet and vocals and Simon Wigney on double bass.
Saturday, Swampfox @ Farmers Arms, Creswick
Sunday, The Coopers @ Horvat’s Supper Club
Formerly the Capo Bros, acoustic musos Andy Vogel and Trevor Shard having been working the local circuit over the last couple of years.
Describing their sound as rootsy, alt-country, bluesy folk, they pick up the trail of their favourite songwriters and give it a twist with their own special blend of tight harmonies, guitars, squeezebox and harmonica.
