St Brendan’s teacher Majella Lewis said grades 1 and 2 pupils suggested the idea to staff, saying they’d like to do a project that had a direct impact on people.
“Rather than mum or dad just buying the products for them they had to realise things aren’t easy and work to earn it,” she said.
Pupils aimed to earn one item each, but Ms Lewis said they had been coming back with multiple.
“Mums are saying their house has never been so clean,” Ms Lewis says.
The Shower Bus provides hygiene services to the homeless of Ballarat.
