A private schoolboy has been charged with drug trafficking after police dismantled a "sophisticated drug syndicate" at a Victorian school earlier this year.

The Girton Grammar student was arrested on school grounds in September after police questioned him about the possibility of drugs circulating among students.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman confirmed the Bendigo teenager has been charged with drug trafficking and possession, as well as four counts of graffiti.
"He will appear at a Children's Court at a later date," she said.
Earlier this year, parents had described the operation as a "sophisticated drug syndicate".
However, Girton Grammar headmaster Matthew Maruff said the school had no knowledge of a drug syndicate operating on school grounds and that the school was cooperating with police.
