The 2010 Lake Wendouree premiership coach has been appointed to the role previously held by Paul Henriksen.
Henriksen has recently taken on a development coaching position at the Brisbane Lions.
Battistello steps up to the under-18 job after being at the helm of the Victoria Country under-16 side this year.
He has spent four seasons as assistant coach at the North Ballarat Rebels.
Battistello will work with current TAC Cup head coaches Craig Black (Dandenong Stingrays), Leigh Brown (Gippsland Power) and Leon Higgins (Murray Bushrangers), who are confirmed as his assistants.
The new job is sure to be a busy one for Battistello, who will lead the team at the 2017 AFL under-18 national championships.
These titles are used as one of the key indicators for clubs in deciding which players they will draft later in the year.
