Police are investigating an incident involving former One Nation senator Rod Culleton on Tuesday, after he was "ambushed" outside the Perth Magistrates Court and injured his wrist.

Senator Culleton was leaving a hearing involving former associates Frank Bertola and Bruce Bell earlier in the day, when WA One Nation candidate Anthony Fels reportedly attempted to serve legal papers and chased the outspoken politician up the street.
The 52-year-old senator was declared bankrupt in the Federal Court last month and faces expulsion from the Senate as part of a High Court challenge to his eligibility, brought by the Turnbull government last year.
Justice Michael Barker granted a 21-day stay in the bankruptcy proceedings and Senator Culleton quit Pauline Hanson's One Nation Party on the same day in December.
A police spokeswoman confirmed officers were investigating the scuffle, while Mr Culleton's office said he was undergoing X-rays on his wrist in the Royal Perth Hospital.
The spokeswoman said Senator Culleton was carrying a large number of his own legal documents at the time of the incident and refused the papers being handed to him.
The other person involved was known to his office, the spokeswoman said.
"He was at court filing a [violence restraining order]," she told Fairfax media. "It had ended and he was leaving court as all this unfolded. As he left, some people were trying to serve him papers of some sort."
She said there had been "a bit of an ambush and the Senator has fallen to the ground and injured himself. The witness statements are being taken right now. I do know he is being X-rayed on his wrist to see if it's broken or not."
Senator Culleton's wife and son were nearby and came to his aid after he fell heavily.
Mr Fels told Fairfax Media Senator Culleton "was going nuts".
"He was lying on the pavement saying he'd hurt his leg but I never assaulted anyone; he just fell over," he said.
"I haven't done anything wrong; I just served the documents on him."
The restraining order proceedings are expected to return to court at the end of the month and Senator Culleton's office is expected to make a further statement on Tuesday night. Mr Bell and Mr Bertola were both arrested outside another court hearing about Senator Culleton's bankruptcy last month.
In a statement to the ABC, One Nation leader Pauline Hanson said it would be inappropriate for her to comment on Tuesday's incident.
"Anthony Fels has applied to be a candidate of Pauline Hanson's One Nation Party, however he has not been endorsed," the statement said.
