Garfoot became the first since Carla Ryan in 2009 to collect gold medals in the two events in the one year.
The German-born 35-year-old led home an Orica-Scott team one-two – edging out defending and two-time champion Amanda Spratt in a sprint finish which they had all to themselves in the MARS Cycling Australia Rad National Championships..
Garfoot and Spratt made the 102km event their own inside the last four laps.
Once they made the break, it was just a matter of which of the two would stand on stop of the podium.
Lucy Kennedy, who like Garfoot is from Queensland, finished third, one minute, 27 seconds behind, after an attacking ride.
She had a big margin of another 1:33 ahead of Ballarat-based Shannon Malseed, who took out a sprint for fourth.
