Bill Mundy was revealed as the club’s new chief executive officer on Wednesday.
Mr Mundy has spent 12 years as Telstra Country Wide general manager and believes his vast corporate experience can be a valuable asset to the club.
“I’ve got a wealth of experience in the management of stakeholders, the building of commercial operations, accountability, and a whole range of different skills,” Mr Mundy said.
“What I want to do is get myself into the position, take a good look across the club and its operations and build the important relationships we need to assure the future of the club.”
Mr Mundy’s appointment comes during a turbulent period for the club, which experienced tough times throughout 2016.
There have been wide-scale turnovers in executive positions since former CEO Mark Patterson resigned in early July, after the club’s VFL side crashed to second last on the ladder.
The club still remains without a chairman, following the resignation of Jenny Bromley and three board members late last year.
Problems also arose regarding the lack of player payment at both VFL and BFL levels during July last year, with the club citing a cash flow problem as the catalyst of the issue.
Mr Mundy said he was fully aware of the club’s precarious financial position when he accepted the position.
“I’m not under any illusions about the magnitude of the role I’m taking on,” he said.
“The challenges are certainly there.”
Interim chairman Shaun Moloney said the appointment of Mundy as CEO was a straightforward decision for the club.
“We are absolutely convinced Bill is the right person for us,” Moloney said.
“Bill has very strong community links and support, and we think that’s going to be essential, given where we’re up to in our stadium’s development.
“He’ll help drive our business, so that we can continue to support all of our programs”.
Mr Mundy is no stranger to executive roles within the Ballarat sporting community, having been of Ballarat’s ACU Sovereigns Netball Club president.
He is set to officially begin his role with North Ballarat on January 23.
