Swinton has returned from overseas to join the new Ballarat City FC club’s pre-season training.
He played 12 games with Ballarat Red Devils before going away mid-season.
Head coach Danny Gnjidic said the experienced Swinton was a welcome addition to the squad.
City FC opens its season against Brunswick City on Sunday, February 5.
